Job Type: Full-time, night shift Starting Pay: $25.90 per hour Metro West is seeking motivated individuals with a strong passion for serving our community. Our dispatchers play a vital role in coordinating resources across both emergent and non-emergent systems, ensuring safe, timely, and reliable service. This role is part of a dynamic environment where every day brings something new, and applicants should be comfortable adapting to changing situations. While there are challenges, the opportunity to support our clients and work closely with our dedicated team makes the work especially meaningful. Previous dispatch experience is helpful but not required. Our comprehensive training program will give you the tools you need to succeed - we’re simply looking for highly motivated, quick learners who are ready to grow with us. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Receive telephone calls and listen to callers to accurately ascertain the nature of the call and respond with the appropriate service. • Enter information at a workstation computer terminal while continuing to question and listen to the customer. • Deploy the appropriate resources to meet the emergency and non-emergency needs of the system. • Adjust questioning style based upon the customer’s request. • Schedule appointments based on the customer’s needs. • Maintain accurate record of customer contacts. • Identification of problems and opportunities. • Maintain effective communications with all individuals, departments and customers. • Maintain a working knowledge of company Communication Center procedures as well as associated PSAP’s protocols. • Actively participate in continuing education and maintain all required certifications. • Complete other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY None QUALIFICATIONS Required • High School Diploma or GED • Current CPR and First Aid Training (EMT Licensure may substitute for First Aid) • Typing 45 WPM minimum • Detail Oriented • Ability to be DPSST Certified with the State of Oregon • Customer service experience • Strong communication skills • Strong organizational skills • Strong computer skills • Excellent problem-solving skills • Applicants must meet Metro West Ambulance’s National/Federal and criminal background check, drug & alcohol screening, and physical requirement standards. Metro West Ambulance is a drug free work place. Preferred • Communication Center Experience • Experience with CAD and SSM • EMD Certification Physical Requirements Ability to lift 2 pounds. Ability to carry 2 pounds for a distance of 50 feet. The employee is regularly required to use fingers, hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, touch, manipulate or operate standard office equipment. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee is frequently required to see, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close and distant vision.
