Set up and troubleshoot injection molding machines, maintain safety and quality standards, assist production schedules, and complete related documentation.
High school diploma or GED, 2 to 5 years of machine and mold setup experience, fluent English communication skills.
Your Contribution As a Set Up Technician reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following: Responsible for ensuring a safe and productive work environment. Troubleshoot molding machines to bring parts into specifications for size, appearance, flash, splay, cycle time, etc. Recognize and recommend corrective actions for tooling issues. Demonstrate high level of understanding of material properties and interactions in the injection molding process. Frequently performs producer role while assisting Set-Up Technicians. Complete necessary paperwork; sample retention papers; mold forms; mold change time tickets; and manufacturing orders. Participate in developing action plans to resolve problems with safety, quality, production, delivery and 5S. Assists set up technicians in timely mold setup, cleaning, venting and teardown as needed to support production schedules. Help to properly install, monitor, clean and remove auxiliary equipment to injection molding machines as needed by Production Scheduling or Process Engineering . Work with producers to stop/start, monitor and respond to injection molding machines, automation equipment and material loading system alarms. Demonstrate a “service attitude” when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production and quality standards. Maintain clean, organized, safe working environment with equipment and materials located in proper locations in accordance with 5S standards inside and outside of facility. Ability to work all designated shifts. Excellent attendance record. Ability to work in a team environment. Other duties as assigned. Your Experience & Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. 2 to 5 years of experience with machine and mold set-up. Must be fluent in English. Able to read/write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and directors, and to present to groups of customers or employees of the organization.
