Job Title: Protection & Control (P&C) Field Testing Engineer Location: 100% Remote (Travel up to 80%) Base Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 Industry: Energy – Utilities Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience testing protection relay equipment within high-voltage substation environments and a strong background in commissioning P&C systems. Position Overview: Our client is seeking multiple Protection & Control (P&C) Field Testing and Commissioning Engineers to support a variety of high-voltage substation projects across transmission, distribution, and generation sectors. This role requires significant travel (up to 80%) and involves field-based testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation of critical protection systems. Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive testing and commissioning of Protection & Control systems in high-voltage substations. Conduct hands-on relay testing using Omicron CMC 256/356, Doble F6150, or equivalent test sets. Test relays such as SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60, and similar models. Execute control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit verification, relay calibration, and static/dynamic testing. Collaborate with Project Leads and Field Supervisors on active substation projects. Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and follow all safety regulations and protocols. Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, logic diagrams, and control documentation. Accurately document test data and prepare detailed field reports. Handle administrative tasks including timecards, expenses, and project documentation. Requirements Required Experience & Qualifications: 5+ years of electrical field testing experience in substations, including breakers, transformers, and associated systems. Strong proficiency with SEL, GE, Basler, and Beckwith relay platforms. Demonstrated skill in relay testing using Omicron or Doble test equipment. Familiarity with applicable industry standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA, etc.). Experience working on projects ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV. Ability to utilize test software such as ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator. Benefits Full benefits!
