As a Health Information Management Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and safeguarding sensitive patient health information while supporting clinical and administrative teams. This role involves processing medical records requests, performing audits, and ensuring that all releases of information comply with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies. You will collaborate with providers, facilities, and internal teams to maintain high standards of accuracy, privacy, and data integrity. Ensure confidentiality and limited access to sensitive patient records. Collaborate with clinical teams and providers to maintain compliance in documentation and medical records management. Respond to correspondence related to medical records through designated communication channels. Manage database inquiries and verify patient information prior to document release. Analyze and interpret data to identify improvement opportunities and recommend actionable solutions. Conduct record audits to ensure documentation standards and quality benchmarks are met. Track patient data for quality assessments and monitor adherence to processes. Perform additional duties as required to support healthcare information management initiatives. Requirements Associate’s degree in business administration or related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy requirements. Understanding of auditing, billing, and coding initiatives. Experience navigating major EMR systems and developing workflows. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other communication/collaboration tools. Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills; ability to self-manage multiple projects.
