Job Overview Jerry’s Drug & Surgical LLC is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician ( Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred ) with great communication skills who can also support front-end operations. In this dual role, you will primarily assist with pharmacy tasks—ensuring safe, accurate medication preparation—while also providing exceptional customer service, including support with OTC and DME products. This position is ideal for someone committed to patient care, accuracy, and a smooth pharmacy workflow. Key Responsibilities Pharmacy Technician Duties (Primary Role) • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including oral, topical, and specialty prescriptions. • Verify prescription information for accuracy and ensure proper patient documentation. • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols. • Provide patient support by addressing basic medication questions (within scope) and directing clinical inquiries to the pharmacist. • Collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure timely, effective medication fulfillment and optimal patient outcomes. • Participate in pharmacy inventory management: ordering, stocking, rotating, and monitoring medication levels. DME (Durable Medical Equipment) & OTC Responsibilities • Assist customers with selecting appropriate DME products such as walkers, canes, braces, supports, bathroom safety items, compression stockings and other medical equipment. • Provide knowledgeable guidance on OTC products, including pain relievers, cold/flu items, vitamins, wound care, and other health essentials. • Stock, organize, and maintain DME and OTC sections to ensure proper product display and availability. • Educate customers about product features, proper use, and available pharmacy services related to DME supplies. Front-End / Customer Service Duties • Greet customers warmly and assist with questions in a professional manner. • Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system (cash, credit, debit). • Promote and educate customers about pharmacy programs, promotions, and health-related services. • Maintain a tidy and organized front-end area, including shelves and checkout stations. • Assist with general stocking, merchandising, and inventory tasks. • Address customer concerns and issues with professionalism, empathy, and effective problem-solving. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Pharmacy Technician experience and License required (training available for strong candidates). • Knowledge of OTC products, basic medication categories, and common health conditions. • Familiarity with DME products and their use is highly preferred (training available). • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. • Basic math skills and experience handling transactions. • Previous pharmacy, retail, or customer service experience is a must. Work Environment • Fast-paced retail pharmacy setting. • Frequent interaction with patients, caregivers, pharmacy staff, and healthcare providers. • Occasional lifting and stocking of DME and retail merchandise.
