Establish and lead enterprise data strategy, collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to prioritize and implement data investments and governance.

Job Description: About the Role: This role will stand up a data strategy team of about 5 that has not previously existed as a function at J.D. With a proper data strategy, we will be appropriately invested in data sets, eliminate duplication of effort, have contingencies in place for disruption of mission-critical data assets, and be in position to respond to new or disruptive data sets and data acquisition strategies. The scale and complexity of J.D. Power’s data – spanning VIN-level transaction and inventory data to voice of customer to repair and vehicle specifications, and more – implies a data strategy to be a large and complex task needing structured thinking and coordination. The role will collaborate closely with product and P&L leaders and senior leadership across the business to prioritize investment opportunities, that then result in repeatable steps in partnership with data engineering and data science teams to evaluate, test, and recommend implementation where warranted. The role will also partner with our Unified Data Platform (UDP) project and the data engineering and technology leadership supporting it; the UDP work is about enabling our most highly valued and used data assets in one data lake to efficiently and effectively test new hypotheses and product or feature ideas. This could include topics like: Value assessment of new or external data sets on priority use cases; Establishing and overseeing requirements for new data tests to technical staff including data engineers or data scientists; Hypothesis generation of value enhancement through new data sets and market activation through 3rd party providers of those hypotheses; Balanced scorecard creation to assess data source options and to inform business case taken to leadership for investment. Prior SaaS customer success experience as a client director (or equivalent) is required. Specifically, you must have delivered and consulted enterprise-scale clients on data science models and analytical insights using multi-dimensional data set(s) where you were considered by the client as the subject matter consulting expert. In this case, multi-dimensional means multiple products, multiple regions, multiple customer segments, multiple product segments, and/or other relevant cross-sections, etc. Prior SaaS product ownership experience of analytical solutions is strongly preferred. Specifically, you should have managed the prioritization of feature enhancement in product roadmaps, interacted with customers to preview and frame product options, and managed technical teams (engineers, data scientists) to plan for, and execute against, business and use case expectations – particularly in the context of new or emerging data sets as considerations.
