The Design Engineer specializes in Fiber to the Home (FTTH) projects, playing a key role in the planning and execution of Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) Fiber designs. Responsibilities include generating bills of materials, reviewing completed designs for accuracy and efficiency, and developing detailed diagrams for ISP patch panels and cable racks. With a focus on maintaining design specifications and adhering to quality standards, the Design Engineer II will contribute to the success of FTTH projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams and leveraging your expertise in AutoCAD and FTTH industry design principles. This role requires a skilled and detail-oriented professional committed to ensuring the precision and effectiveness of FTTH infrastructure designs. Responsibilities • . OSP and ISP Fiber Design: - Design and develop layouts for Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) Fiber projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and specifications. - Generate bills of materials, splice sheets, and other supporting documentation to facilitate the execution of the design. • . Patch Panel Diagrams and Cable Rack Layouts: - • Adherence to Design Specifications: - Ensure compliance with design specifications and industry best practices in all FTTH design projects. Develop detailed diagrams and layouts for ISP patch panels and cable racks, optimizing spatial arrangements and cable management. . Design Review: - Review completed designs for errors and inefficiencies, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and operational efficiency. - Conduct regular audits of designs, identifying and correcting errors to maintain design integrity • . Adherence to Design Specifications: - Ensure compliance with design specifications and industry best practices in all FTTH design projects • Maintain a thorough understanding of design requirements and incorporate them into project deliverables. • . Quality Standards: - Adhere to established quality standards for FTTH design, continuously seeking improvement opportunities and implementing best practices. • Collaboration and Mentorship: - Collaborate with other designers to share knowledge and best practices. - Mentor junior designers, providing guidance and support to enhance their design capabilities. • . Project Management: - Work on assigned projects efficiently, meeting deadlines and contributing to a high-paced engineering environment. - Undertake additional projects or duties as assigned by management. Requirements Education and Experience: Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of experience in ArcGIS/ESRI Products, and at least 2 years of experience as a Design Engineer I in the Telecommunications Industry. Proficiency in AutoCAD software (2+ years of work experience) is preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, sit - 6-8 hours daily Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Key Competencies, Skills, Abilities: Ability to adapt to varying project requirements and timelines. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships. Detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced engineering environment. Project management skills. Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects. Ability to write Lisp routines and other CAD-assistance programs is a plus. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
