5+ years as a Business Analyst in health plan underwriting with strong domain expertise in rating, risk assessment, eligibility, and benefit design, plus experience writing detailed requirements.
Client: Deloitte Location: Remote (EST preferred) Type: Only W-2 (No C2C / No 1099) Start: Immediate Rate: Open Position Summary Deloitte is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Health Plan Underwriting domain expertise. The ideal candidate will support requirements gathering, process analysis, documentation, and cross-functional coordination across underwriting and health plan operations. This role is 100% remote with preference for candidates working in the Eastern Time Zone. Key Responsibilities • Gather, document, and validate business requirements related to health plan underwriting processes. • Collaborate with underwriting teams, product owners, actuarial teams, and business stakeholders. • Analyze current-state and future-state underwriting workflows and recommend improvements. • Develop BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria. • Support system enhancements and integration efforts impacting underwriting modules. • Assist in data validation, impact analysis, and UAT planning/execution. • Ensure alignment of underwriting rules, risk models, eligibility, rating, and pricing workflows. • Communicate clearly with technical teams and translate business needs into actionable requirements. Required Qualifications • 5+ years as a Business Analyst in the health plan / payer industry. • Hands-on experience in Underwriting (small group, large group, individual, medical underwriting, ACA, Medicare/Medicaid preferred). • Strong understanding of rating, risk assessment, eligibility, and benefit design. • Experience writing detailed requirements (BRD, FRD, user stories). • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. • Must be able to work EST hours. • Only W-2 candidates will be considered. Preferred Skills • Experience working in consulting environments (Deloitte or Big 4 is a plus). • Familiarity with healthcare payer systems and underwriting platforms. • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
