In certain situations, they will also assist other craft workers in their endeavors. Schedule Full-Time; Monday Friday (Saturdays depend on work load) (hours depend on crew and job site) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities To be effective, Equipment Operator must: • Be able to operate a variety of heavy equipment • Locate and work in areas that involve utilities and other buried items prior to digging • Maintain a clean job site: pick up tools and equipment as well as secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards • Be familiar with material handling and storage • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed • Communicate effectively with Superintendent/Foreman, Safety Manager, Safety Officer or HR Manager to inform them of any potential safety issues Technical Skills • Knowledge of proper use of heavy equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work Other Skills and Abilities • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry heavy objects (50 pounds) • Ability to communicate orally and in writing • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency Education • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work. Special Requirements: Must be able to pass controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.
