Caption by Hyatt – Nashville Job Summary The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a key leader responsible for the daily operations and overall performance of the hotel. This role partners closely with the General Manager to oversee profitability, guest satisfaction, service quality, and team engagement across all hotel departments. The AGM ensures that Caption by Hyatt remains a vibrant destination where guests feel connected and team members feel empowered. The AGM will focus on driving operational excellence, maximizing revenue opportunities, controlling costs, and building a culture of accountability and inclusion. They are responsible for supporting financial goals, delivering elevated guest service, maintaining brand standards, and developing future leaders within the hotel. Acting as second-in-command, the AGM also assumes full operational responsibility in the absence of the General Manager. Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and motivate department managers and teams across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Engineering. Ensure alignment with financial goals through accurate forecasting, effective budgeting, and rigorous cost controls. Actively participate in sales initiatives by meeting clients, hosting events, and building strong business relationships. Partner with the GM to oversee training, service standards, and labor management, ensuring operational excellence. Drive employee engagement by fostering a positive, team-oriented environment that prioritizes development and retention. Maintain visibility throughout public areas to engage guests and ensure service quality. Collaborate with ownership and asset management, ensuring proactive communication and alignment with expectations. Support compliance with brand standards, safety programs, and regulatory requirements. Lead or support special projects, new initiatives, and property transitions as needed. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years of progressive hotel management experience. Strong financial acumen, budgeting, and forecasting skills. In-depth knowledge of hotel operations, including rooms, F&B, sales, and engineering. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail. Skilled in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and multi-tasking. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, and hotel property management systems. Willingness to travel as needed.
