Pursuing or recently completed relevant engineering degree, basic fluid dynamics and numerical methods knowledge, experience with at least one CFD package, familiarity with CAD tools, and programming skills are preferred.
Type: Remote | Unpaid Internship | Duration: 3 Months Overview We are developing next-generation wildfire-fighting and collaborative robotic systems that combine AI, simulation, and real-world robotics to improve safety and efficiency in extreme environments. We are seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level CFD Intern to support our aerodynamic and hydrodynamic simulation projects. This position is ideal for students or recent graduates in Aerospace, Mechanical, Naval Engineering, or related fields who are eager to apply computational methods to real-world engineering challenges. Key Responsibilities • Conduct CFD simulations for aerodynamic and hydrodynamic systems using tools such as ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+, or COMSOL. • Support mesh generation, geometry cleanup, and simulation setup. • Assist in post-processing flow field results and preparing engineering reports. • Run parametric studies and help evaluate design alternatives. • Collaborate with the engineering team to analyze performance, stability, and flow characteristics. • Document methodologies, results, and findings clearly and concisely. Preferred Qualifications • Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field. • Basic understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and numerical methods. • Experience with at least one CFD package (academic or professional). • Familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360, etc.) is a plus. • Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C++ are an advantage. • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
