• Location: Chicago, Illinois Type: Contract Job #101014 Title: Cloud Engineer Location: Chicago, IL Details: Contract with ongoing need, fully remote opportunity, Pay Rate: $85.00 – 95.00/hr. with benefit inclusions This position involves ANACI clearance which requires candidates to be US citizens or Green Card holders for a minimum of one year. Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Migration Engineer to lead the transformation of legacy, on-premise applications into modern, cloud-native solutions on AWS. This role is critical to ensuring seamless migrations, robust infrastructure, and operational excellence across multiple enterprise systems. You will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to design scalable architectures and implement best practices for cloud adoption. Key Responsibilities • Application Migration: Drive the migration of complex, monolithic Java Spring applications from on-prem environments to AWS, ensuring minimal downtime, data integrity, and adherence to compliance standards. • Infrastructure Automation: Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to enable consistent, automated provisioning of cloud resources. • System Refactoring: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refactor legacy components into modular, cloud-ready architectures that enhance scalability and maintainability. • Operational Excellence: Integrate DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, to streamline deployments and improve release cycles. • Security & Compliance: Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with organizational and federal standards throughout the migration process. • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize cloud environments for cost efficiency, reliability, and high availability. Qualifications Required Technical Skills: • Java with Spring Framework: Deep understanding of enterprise-level application development and migration strategies. • CI/CD Expertise: Hands-on experience with GitLab pipelines for automated builds and deployments. • Cloud & IaC: Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.) and Terraform for infrastructure automation. Preferred Skills: • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for microservices deployment. • Familiarity with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana. Soft Skills: • Quick learner with adaptability to evolving technologies. • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across teams. • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving. #LI-MJ1
