POSITION SUMMARY: The Government Relations Intern will provide support to the Public Affairs department as assigned by senior public affairs staff, while adhering to Dominium policies and procedures. The intern will assist with projects, conduct government and policy research, support elected official outreach, and contribute to community advocacy for affordable housing. The intern will maintain professional relationships with Dominium staff and external associates. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Assist with projects for the Government Relations department, including but not limited to government and policy research, elected official outreach, and community advocacy for affordable housing • Effectively communicate with interdepartmental staff • Maintain timely and regular attendance QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be in the process of earning a bachelor’s degree in a government relations, legal, political, or communication related field; or earned a bachelor’s degree in a government relations, legal, political, or communication related field within the previous 12 months. • Good verbal and written communication skills • Average research ability and above average reasoning skills. Ability to understand complex policy and translate to layman terms • Experience with Microsoft Office • Great attention to detail • Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the corporation in a “team” environment to achieve optimal solutions to department challenges • Ability to accept delegated assignments, work with moderate independence About Us: Dominium is a purpose-driven leader in affordable housing.
