Title: In-House Real Estate Attorney – Commercial Transactions Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid Schedule) About the Role Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Real Estate Attorney to join a nationally recognized company with a strong presence in the commercial real estate and title industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys hands-on transactional work and is looking to transition to (or continue) an in-house role that offers both substantive work and true work-life balance. In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative, business-oriented legal team that plays a key part in managing and closing complex commercial real estate transactions—without the pressure of billable hours. Key Responsibilities: • Advise on commercial real estate transactions, including title review, underwriting, and related documentation. • Identify and resolve complex title, survey, and transactional issues. • Draft, review, and interpret a variety of legal documents, including purchase agreements, leases, easements, and loan documents. • Partner with internal teams and external parties to ensure efficient and compliant closings. • Provide practical, business-focused legal advice that supports company initiatives and mitigates risk. Qualifications: • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the U.S. • 3–8 years of experience in commercial real estate law, ideally with exposure to title, underwriting, or transactional matters. • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills. • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively across departments. Compensation & Structure: • Base Salary: $130,000–$150,000 (commensurate with experience). • Schedule: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., approximately 40 hours per week. • Hybrid Flexibility: A few in-office days per week required. • Benefits: Comprehensive package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). • Career Growth: Long-term stability and professional development opportunities within a respected national organization.
