Manufacturing Quality Assurance Engineer Location: Albion, IN Imagine starting your day by opening the plant’s quality dashboard, spotting a trend, and assembling a quick stand-up with production, engineering, and suppliers to align on next steps. By mid-morning, you’re guiding an 8D on a customer concern, mapping the process, and driving root cause analysis. After lunch, you’re reviewing a PPAP package and capability data for a new component, then wrapping up with updates to our control plans to lock in the improvement. That’s a typical day for a Quality Engineer at Dexter. What You’ll Do • Partner with the Quality Manager to shape and execute site strategies that elevate Safety, Quality, and Efficiency while enforcing strong engineering and quality standards. • Turn customer feedback into action by analyzing failures and driving corrective and preventive actions. • Lead cross-functional problem-solving using methods like 8D, 5-Why, fishbone diagrams, and process mapping. • Investigate and resolve product, process, and production issues on the floor. • Champion continuous improvement (5S, Kaizen, lean techniques) to strengthen the QMS. • Plan, review, and approve part qualification documentation: First Article Inspection, Gage R&R, PFMEA, capability studies, control plans, and process validation. • Track, analyze, and communicate quality KPIs and performance trends. • Develop suppliers through validation activities and supplier quality initiatives. • Drive timely closure of supplier nonconformances with corrective and preventive actions. • Define incoming inspection requirements for supplied materials. • Facilitate SCARs and Vendor Quality Notices with suppliers to completion. • Assess internal and external process capabilities and pursue improvements. • Identify and deliver projects that improve Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Cost. Qualifications • 2+ years in quality engineering/assurance, continuous improvement, or a related function. • Manufacturing experience (1+ year preferred). • ISO/IATF exposure (1+ year preferred). • Skilled in Quality System Auditing, Root Cause & Corrective Action, Six Sigma concepts, and FMEA. • Hands-on with control plans, PPAP, capability analysis, and SPC. Education Bachelor’s in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field with 1+ year relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
