Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2-4 years relevant experience in injection molded, SMC, and sheet metal processes, plus strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Inside the Role Designs and develops commercial vehicle exterior panels and mounting systems applying mechanical engineering principles to meet performance, durability, quality, cost, and development timing targets and milestones. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype mechanical products and assemblies. Collaborates with product strategy and manufacturing engineering teams to develop products that meet technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements. May also be involved with designing or influencing product specific manufacturing production processes and equipment. What You Drive at DTNA Design and develop exterior vehicle panels and related components to optimize aerodynamic performance. Applies principles of mechanical engineering and fluid dynamics to create systems and surfaces that reduce drag, improve fuel efficiency, and enhance overall vehicle performance. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype mechanical products and assemblies. Collaborates with marketing and industrial design teams to develop products that meet technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements May also be involved with designing product specific manufacturing production processes and equipment. Lead and support coordinating short range radar packaging efforts to help ensure consistency and performance across models. Design, release, and validate cost effective injection molded radar covers to protect the radar unit and ensure radar performance. Identify and lead cost & quality improvement activities in your areas of responsibility and in tangential areas. Knowledge You Should Bring Requires a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering Requires 2-4 years of relevant experience Design experience in injection molded, SMC, and sheet metal processes. Demonstrated clear communication skills. Demonstrated experience in working cross functionally (manufacturing, purchasing, product strategy, design center) Exceptional Candidates Might Have Experience with short range radars. Experience in executive presentations. Experience in bringing forward cost, quality, and complexity reduction ideas and working cross collaboratively to push for implementation approval. Surfacing experience in NX preferred. Experience working with Design Center preferred.
