Bachelor's or Master's in Optics, Physics or related field with at least 5 years experience in developing and testing optical systems, hands-on lab skills, and knowledge of advanced optical communication techniques.

Full Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities • Develop detailed Design Verification plans for new coherent products. • Design optical transmission test subsystems for use in verification and regression testing in Horsham, PA lab • Evaluate complex modulation formats using optical test bench • Perform verification and regression testing of coherent products. • Document test results in detailed reports to be shared both internally and externally. Education & Experience • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Optics, Physics or any related field • 5-year minimum experience developing and testing optical systems or subsystems Skills • Hands-on lab experience is a must. • Team player who is willing to work on a multitude of projects simultaneously • Results oriented and strong problem-solving attitude • Experience with developing and using Python coding for automation of test equipment a plus • Understanding of optical transmission impairments • Strong understanding of advanced multi-level modulation techniques, DQPSK, DP-QPSK, QAM, OFDM, etc • Experience with testing of high data rate Coherent optical communication systems preferred (800G and 1.6T). • Familiar with commercially available Test equipment and optical link simulators (in particular: VPI transmission maker). Working Conditions Collaborative working environment focused on developing products with cutting edge technology. Job requires on site in-office support, but a hybrid blend of in-office and work from home may be an option depending on needs of the organization. Limited travel may be required, primarily working with other Coherent sites. Physical Requirements Limited, must be able to test developed hardware in engineering lab, in conjunction with other team members. No heavy lifting or strenuous physical activity required.
