Health Unit Clerks are vital to this unit’s safety as you will help open the doors to the unit. Health Unit Clerks also provide an elevated level of customer service to patients, families, visitors, and caregivers to promote and support the highest level of patient experience and perform administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow in the unit. A caregiver in this position works nights from 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with every other weekend and 3 holidays per year requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform administrative and clerical duties. Conduct an in-person greeting and welcome newly admitted and transferred patients to the unit. Communicate with and facilitate communication between patients, families, other departments and healthcare team members regarding patient care. Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Provide concierge service to assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources. Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. Troubleshoot equipment. Respond to patient call lights and make rounds. Keep nursing stations clean and organized. Complete mandatory education and training. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED One year of experience in a customer service-related role Prior job experience with typing or computer training or equivalent coursework Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Microsoft Office experience Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
