JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Structure- Design, develop, and test complex software engineering projects leveraging a variety of technologies, integrations at the organization. Understand national and international trends in healthcare data integration, algorithms, libraries, frameworks and software engineering principles to ensure that CCHMC is positioned to participate and leverage those trends where necessary and possible. Participate in code reviews. Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge into the department. Continue to develop understanding of CCHMC business processes and ensure collaboration strategies keep pace with business needs. Participate actively in the development and execution software engineering practices and strategies. Collaborate with platform engineers, security engineers, data engineers, Leads/Architects to refine and update operating standards and guidelines for data pipelines and ETL processing. Technical & Business Skill- Mastery of one or more Software Engineering tools, languages, practices and architectures, such as SDLC, Design Patterns, Source Code Management, DevOPs, Frameworks, etc. Mastery of core Software Engineering technologies supporting front end, backend development. Deep understanding of core CCHMC/healthcare clinical, business and research processes to help build appropriate and holistic solutions. Obtain Build additional skills through continuing education, and mentor junior staff in developing business and technical skills. Technical Support & Customer Service- Ensure outstanding end-user support is provided, including ongoing monitoring of Service Level Agreements for incident management and collaboration with other areas to ensure customer-centered incident management and support. Adhere to, develop/refine and promote continual adoption of change management policies and procedures. Model outstanding customer service behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with customers. Provide technical support and second- and third-level problem resolution assistance, and support departmental efforts to improve customer satisfaction. Develop and refine support documentation and teach junior staff troubleshooting techniques and processes. Develop proactive monitoring systems (in collaboration with platform engineers) to identify problems before they impact production customers. Work with vendors when necessary to ensure CCHMC investments and requests are being adequately supported and enhanced; understand vendor escalation pathways. Escalate support issues with urgency. Take 24 hour call on a staff rotation. Project Execution & Management- Execute own project tasks with urgency and to a high level of quality. Communicate status clearly and effectively using departmental project management tools. Follow time-tracking and other project management requirements. Participate actively in project meetings, stand-ups, etc. Serve as technical lead for moderately complex projects, collaborating with project managers to ensure project scope/risk/budget/etc. are adequately managed. Lead project meetings and workgroups.
