Position Summary: This position supports the Foreign Affairs Office of the United States International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC) whose headquarters is in El Paso, TX. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Demonstrated success leading translator teams. • Lead coordination and communication with other translators on the team. • Evaluate job tasks and assign responsibilities as appropriate. • Translate written, electronic, and/or multimedia materials to and from English and Spanish. Materials may include, but are not limited to, letters, news articles, international agreements, technical reports, briefings, and policies. • Ensure translations are complete, precise, and idiomatically correct, maintaining the tone, style, and intent of the source material. • Conduct research to ensure accurate use of terminology, including specialized vocabulary in fields such as legal, medical, technical, or government-related content. • Proofread and edit translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client or organizational standards. • If required, format translated documents to match the layout and design of the original material, including graphic design and desktop publishing when required. • If required, use translation tools such as MemoQ and machine translation resources to enhance efficiency and accuracy. • Represent the company during weekly and quarterly webinar meetings • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with ethical standards in all assignments. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED: • Demonstrated success in coordinating Translation services. • Proficiency in English and Spanish, with demonstrated skills in speaking and listening. • Ability to demonstrate proficiency through an industry standard assessment. • Minimum of two years of experience in written translation. • Be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident. • Ability to pass a background check or obtain a security clearance, if required for specific assignments. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL PREFERRED: • Documented track record of performing Spanish to English translations of complex documents. • Demonstrate a high level of competency by verifying such things as previous work for the Department of State, submission of translated technical documents, client references in the water, engineering or scientific field. • Proficiency in using translation and/or transcription software. • Be able to pass a background check.
