A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required, along with 4-6 years of hands-on tax preparation experience. CPA or Enrolled Agent designation is preferred, along with strong communication and organizational skills.
As a Senior Tax Associate, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing complex individual tax returns for high-net-worth clients. Your responsibilities will include analyzing financial data to develop actionable recommendations such as estimated tax payment schedules and cash flow planning to meet tax obligations by the filing deadlines. You will ensure clear, accurate, and proactive communication with clients to support them throughout the tax process. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with team members to deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality tax filings and related deliverables. Primary Responsibilities: Prepare and e-file federal and state tax returns including: Form 1040 with Schedule C and Schedule E Form 8938, FBAR (Form 114) Form 1041, 990-PF, 990-T, 709 NYC-202 (UBT) Analyze and interpret business ledgers and financial reports to create accurate P&L statements for tax reporting. Interpret executive pay stubs to report income and withholding from equity compensation related to RSUs, performance shares, imputed income, and incorporate details into accurate tax projections. Prepare multi-state part-year and non-resident tax filings including but not limited to the following: New York nonresident returns using days in/out analysis and Forms IT-203B and IT-203F Multi-state nonresident return reporting for alternative investments Part-Year residency tax returns with nonresident reporting across multiple jurisdictions Accurately input and reconcile K-1, K-3, and other pass-through entity forms, with a focus on complex alternative investment K-1’s. Handle complex tax components including: Form 1116 (Foreign Tax Credit) Section 1061 (Carried Interest Rules for taxpayers with Applicable Partnership Interests) Form 8621 (PFIC Reporting) Conduct thorough research on complex tax matters and present findings in a clear and actionable format. Develop customized Excel-based analyses and tax projections, including estimated tax payment schedules. Maintain high standards of communication with clients and internal teams, both written and verbal. Follow through on all tasks to completion, ensuring deadlines are consistently met. Collaborate effectively with the team using tools like ProSeries, CCH Axcess, Bloomberg Tax Planner, DocuSign, and Box secure document sharing. Draft, edit, and format documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Editor. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field experience. CPA or Enrolled Agent designation preferred 4-6 years of hands-on experience in tax preparation and filings. Strong organizational and follow-through skills – highly reliable and detail-oriented. Proven experience understanding and interpreting client data and preparing comprehensive tax schedules. Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written. Proficiency with: Tax software: ProSeries, CCH Axcess/ProSystem fx, Bloomberg Tax Planner Productivity tools: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat Editor, DocuSign Proficient in building financial models and customized analyses in Excel, with experience creating solutions from the ground up. In-depth knowledge of executive compensation and tax implications.
