Position Overview of the Associate Business Development Representative: The Associate Business Development Representative is responsible for evaluating inbound potential-client inquiries, assessing their needs, and creating qualified opportunities for the sales team. This role initiates early-stage conversations, uncovers challenges and decision-making processes, and ensures that prospects are routed to the appropriate sales representatives with complete and accurate information. The Associate Business Development Representative supports business development efforts by preparing meeting materials, coordinating calls, and contributing to proposals. They maintain accurate records, monitor market and industry activity, and share insights that help shape sales and marketing strategies. This position is expected to manage assigned deliverables with minimal day-to-day oversight and will collaborate with more senior colleagues when working with complex clients or projects. Duties and Responsibilities of the Associate Business Development Representative: Prospect Assessment & Qualification * Conduct initial assessments to understand prospect needs, challenges, and buying considerations. * Review and qualify inbound leads by determining fit, level of interest, and potential business opportunity. * Identify and document key pain points and how the company’s solutions may address them. * Decide whether to advance prospects to the sales team, continue nurturing, or redirect them with appropriate notes. Relationship Initiation & Outreach * Initiate contact with prospective clients through follow-up communications and structured outreach sequences. * Personalize outreach based on prior interactions, event participation, content engagement, and website activity. * Build early rapport and gather information that supports deeper sales conversations. Sales Team Support & Coordination * Schedule and confirm meetings between prospects and sales representatives with clear agendas and context. * Prepare supporting materials such as presentations, meeting summaries, and proposal components. * Ensure clean handoffs to sales colleagues, including thorough notes and next steps. Recordkeeping & Reporting * Maintain accurate and current information on prospects, accounts, and interactions in the customer database. * Track follow-up actions, conversion status, and progress toward goals. * Share trends such as common objections, preferred messaging, and persona-specific responses with the sales and marketing teams. Market Awareness * Stay informed on industry trends, market developments, and competitor activity. * Identify potential opportunities or risks based on changes in the market. Skills and Experience of the Associate Business Development Representative: * 3+ years of experience in a business development, client-facing, or sales support role. * Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. * Solid written and verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking with prospects by phone or video. * Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and dependable follow-through. * Ability to work independently on most tasks and collaborate with senior team members on more complex projects. * Familiarity with customer relationship management systems (such as Salesforce or similar tools). * Experience preparing or supporting sales presentations, proposals, or meeting materials. * Understanding of technology or financial services industries is preferred. Compensation: We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience including full benefits offering and PTO. Minimum base salary of $70,000
