Safety Manager - Commercial Construction job at BELL Construction. Nashville, TN. Job Summary BELL Construction is hiring a Safety Manager to join their team in Nashville, TN. The Safety Manager assists in the creation, implementation, and enforcement of Safety policies, programs, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA standards. Job Responsibilities • Maintains a safe work atmosphere by building relationships with co-workers, management, clients, and subcontractors. • Enforces BELL’s safety program to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. • Conducts new hire safety training, orientation, and drug screens (new hire, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and random). • Tracks, records, and investigates all health and safety incidents. • Thoroughly investigates and ensures appropriate care is given and followed up on all work-related recordable incidents. Ensures that post-incident alcohol and drug-testing is completed and acts as a liaison between employee, company, medical provider, and worker's compensation carrier. • Communicates safety tips and best practices to employees and leaders. • Acts as a member of the safety committee and coordinates meetings, agendas, and resources. • Documents hazards identified during site safety inspections, reports inspection findings to project team, and ensures all issues are addressed and resolved timely. • Conducts jobsite rounding to observe, learn, and work alongside employees and leaders and reinforce the culture of safety. • Works with project teams to establish site-specific safety plans and Safe Start meetings to ensure compliance with all aspects of safety by all site personnel including subcontractors. • Identify and evaluate potential risks associated with construction activities, equipment, and materials. Develop and communicate strategies to mitigate these risks. • Provide recommendations and assistance to Project Managers and Superintendents with respect to job site hazards, employee training, new/safe equipment operation and safe material or substance utilization. • Partners with Safety Director to report safety data to leaders and the Executive team. • Maintains and updates BELL safety & health manual, policies, and procedures. • Conducts safety-related training and reporting at quarterly Superintendent meetings. • Ensures a harassment-free workplace for all employees. • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned. Education & Experience • Minimum required – Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management or related field; or equivalent field safety experience in construction industry. • Minimum required – Two (2) years safety experience in the commercial construction industry or related field. • Industry certification preferred – CSP, CHST, CIH, etc. Knowledge & Skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. • Previous experience using Viewpoint & Bluebeam preferred. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality at all times.
