HVAC Outside Sales Engineer/Representative – Commercial Modular Department: Sales Reports To: Regional Sales Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Office Location: Orlando, FL; Shreveport, LA; or Elkhart, IN (Preferred, but not required as this is an outside sales position) Travel: ~75–85% (Approx. 4 days/week on-site with customers) Position Summary The HVAC Outside Sales Engineer/Representative – Commercial Modular is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding relationships within the commercial modular market, including OEM building manufacturers, occupied modular dealers, telecom shelter manufacturers, data center enclosure integrators, and commercial/industrial modular contractors. This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC products, territory-based relationship development, and consistent field engagement. The Outside Sales Engineer represents ATEX in the market by identifying new project and product opportunities, securing new customers, aligning technical solutions to customer needs, and managing opportunities from quoting through delivery. This is a high-travel, customer-facing, territory ownership role dedicated to expanding ATEX’s commercial modular business segment. Inside Sales will provide strong support for quoting, selections, and customer service. Key Responsibilities • Develop and execute a territory growth plan to expand ATEX presence in commercial modular applications. • Identify, qualify, and win new customers and prospects. • Partner with Inside Sales to identify opportunities for new products and services within the existing customer base. • Conduct regular on-site customer visits (~4 days/week) to build strong relationships with OEMs, modular builders, contractors, and integrators. • Identify new modular projects, retrofit opportunities, and standard-spec HVAC programs. • Provide product selection guidance, application support, and technical clarification as needed (training provided). • Influence system specifications and scope during early project phases. • Prepare and deliver sales proposals, pricing discussions, and value presentations to secure business. • Coordinate internally with Customer Service, Warranty, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure a clean handoff from sale to fulfillment. • Maintain accurate opportunity pipeline updates and weekly reporting through NetSuite and CRM/data tools. • Meet or exceed revenue and gross profit targets for the assigned territory. • Attend major industry trade shows and conferences. • Provide technical and/or sales presentations and training to sales staff or field technicians as needed. Qualifications • 3+ years of sales experience in commercial HVAC, distribution, OEM manufacturing, or related mechanical systems. Outside sales experience preferred but not required. • Strong understanding of HVAC components, system applications, and installation environments. • Demonstrated experience managing a multi-state territory and independent travel schedule. • Ability to build rapport, educate customers, and differentiate value in competitive markets. • Proficient with Microsoft Office; NetSuite or CRM experience preferred. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally 75–85%. Compensation & Travel • $100,000 base salary + significant performance bonus based on individual and company-wide goals. • Car allowance and/or reimbursement for all travel expenses. • Company-issued cell phone and laptop. • Use of company credit card for gas, travel, trade shows, marketing, client meals, and other approved business expenses. Physical Requirements • Frequent travel by car and plane. • Ability to walk job sites, climb stairs/ladders, and carry product literature/materials when required. • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
