Position Summary The Technical Outside Sales Representative plays a critical role in the growth and success of Arcosa Shoring by serving as a bridge between our customers, our product lines, and our operations teams. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining strong business relationships with contractors, project managers, engineers, and purchasing professionals across a defined territory. The individual in this role provides consultative, technical sales support for our full line of shoring and trench safety products, while also driving market expansion through the acquisition of new customers. In addition, this position provides operational backup within the branch—supporting delivery, logistics, and inside sales—to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role that combines business development, product knowledge, and operational awareness to meet customer needs while advancing Arcosa’s reputation for reliability, innovation, and safety in the shoring and construction industries. Key Responsibilities Customer and Territory Development • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, providing technical expertise and proactive communication to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. • Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities through prospecting, cold calls, jobsite visits, and participation in industry events. • Develop an in-depth understanding of customer needs, project timelines, and equipment requirements to position Arcosa as a trusted partner. • Regularly conduct onsite visits to assess job conditions, verify equipment performance, and offer technical solutions tailored to customer challenges. • Prepare and present professional proposals, quotes, and product recommendations aligned with both customer budgets and operational capabilities. • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and market trends in the CRM or designated sales tracking system. Required Qualifications • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in outside technical sales or account management, ideally in construction, rental, or industrial equipment industries. • Demonstrated ability to develop new business and achieve measurable sales goals. • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret drawings, load charts, and construction site conditions. • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability and willingness to operate delivery vehicles when needed. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM systems. • Ability to travel frequently within assigned territory and occasionally overnight as business requires. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in shoring, trench safety, or construction equipment rental industry. • Knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart P (Excavation Safety) and related trench safety regulations. • CDL license or willingness to obtain one. • Familiarity with rental management software and inventory tracking systems.
