About Archive Join Archive in our mission to change consumer shopping behavior for the better. If you think humans buy too much stuff and throw too much away, then this problem is for you. As the leading technology platform for branded resale, we now power circular businesses for 50+ brands globally including Lululemon, The North Face and New Balance. We are growing our team of highly motivated, forward-thinking individuals to help build the most delightful user experience for shopping used items, and the software to help brands make this a significant part of their business. If this mission speaks to you, come join us as we grow our share of the booming second hand market—projected to grow 3X faster than the overall global apparel market and to hit $350 Billion globally by 2028. About this role We’re looking for a creative, systems-minded People Operations Manager to help scale the foundation of how we hire, pay, grow, and care for our team. This is a cornerstone role for someone who loves structure and data — but also sees HR as a space for innovation, not just administration. You’ll own the backbone of our people operations — payroll, benefits, compliance, systems, and people data — while partnering with our VP of People to evolve compensation and performance programs that reflect who we are as a company. You’ll also be a builder at heart: designing scalable systems today while staying flexible for tomorrow. As the world of work and technology rapidly evolves, you’ll help Archive stay ahead — experimenting with AI, simplifying complexity, and shaping a human-plus-digital People function that’s creative, adaptive, and uniquely ours. You’ll also play a key role in modeling Archive’s core values — building the best product, experimenting boldly, leading with low ego, speaking up, and embracing each others’ weird — and helping embed them into how we work as we grow. Responsibilities Own payroll, benefits, leave administration, and core HR operations (Justworks, Tilt, contractor payments), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a great employee experience across U.S. and international locations. Manage and optimize our People tech stack (Justworks, Lattice, Pave, Pulley), ensuring clean data, strong integrations, and scalable workflows. Identify gaps and recommend system improvements that match our size and stage. Identify opportunities for automation and AI-driven improvements across HR workflows; test and document lightweight tools. Own compliance end-to-end — monitoring labor law changes, maintaining documentation, and proactively communicating updates, risks, and recommendations to leadership. Own and optimize the full employee lifecycle — onboarding, offboarding, internal transitions, and data updates — ensuring processes are consistent, compliant, and continuously improving. Build people dashboards and reporting across headcount, attrition, onboarding, engagement, and other core metrics; translate insights into clear recommendations. Support compensation and performance programs, including system setup, calibration, reporting, and communication planning to ensure alignment and transparency. Support recruiting during spikes or for priority roles (not a primary recruiting function). Requirements 5+ years of experience in HR operations, people systems, or total rewards in a scaling company. Expertise in payroll and benefits administration — detail-oriented and compliance-savvy. Familiarity with multi-state compliance and international expansion. Experience managing HR systems and ensuring clean, accurate data across platforms. Comfort building dashboards and interpreting people data for insights and decisions. A builder and learner at heart — adaptable, creative, and energized by change. Eager to experiment with new tools and AI-enabled workflows to make HR smarter and more human. Strong communicator who balances precision and empathy. Bonus points Experience with Justworks, Lattice, Pave, Pulley, and HRIS integrations. Fluency with AI and automation tools such as ChatGPT, Zapier, Notion AI, or Hex. -- Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but aren’t limited to) role level, skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, certain roles are eligible for equity as well, and all employees are eligible for a full benefits package including employee and dependent healthcare and 401(k) enrollment. Our team of over 50 employees is currently remote-first, with an office in NYC and optional in-person work for those located in the area. We have company offsites twice a year to bring the full team together in person, and occasional travel is expected as part of the job. Archive is a Series B company backed by lauded investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Energize Capital, and Bain Capital Ventures. We prize an inclusive and transparent culture, and remain true to our values in everything we do. We were honored as Fast Company’s #2 Most Innovative Company in Retail in 2024, and continue to challenge ourselves to change consumer shopping behavior for the better. We consider applicants of all backgrounds. If you are excited about what we’re building but don't meet some of the criteria above, please don’t let that discourage you from applying. Please note, we are unable to accept applications from candidates outside of the US at this time.
