Position Summary We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Collections Specialist to support our property management team by following up with residents regarding outstanding rent balances. The ideal candidate is confident on the phone, persistent, solution-oriented, and able to handle difficult conversations professionally while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and company policies. This is a fully remote role focused on consistent communication, thorough documentation, and helping residents resolve delinquent accounts as quickly as possible. Key Responsibilities Conduct daily outbound calls, texts, and emails to residents with past-due rent balances. Communicate firmly, professionally, and consistently to encourage prompt payment or set up approved payment arrangements. Explain account status, amounts owed, deadlines, and potential next steps in clear and confident terms. Document all communication and attempted contacts in the property management system. Monitor resident ledgers and follow internal escalation procedures for non-payment. Coordinate with property managers on cases needing notices, legal action, or alternative resolution steps. Maintain awareness of state landlord-tenant regulations, fair debt collection practices, and internal policies. Provide weekly status updates on delinquent accounts and recovery progress. Requirements Previous experience in collections, customer service, property management, or call-center environments preferred. Strong verbal communication skills; comfortable making a high volume of calls. Ability to stay calm, assertive, and professional during difficult conversations. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation. Ability to work independently and meet weekly performance expectations. Reliable internet connection and quiet remote working environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AppFolio, Yardi, RealPage, or similar property management software. Familiarity with FDCPA best practices (even though this role is not a third-party collector). Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a plus.
