Lab Manager Job Description A Lab Manager at Any Lab Test Now plays a critical role in leading day-to-day operations, ensuring exceptional customer experience, compliant specimen handling, and efficient business performance. This role blends people leadership, operational rigor, and clinical-quality oversight within our retail testing environment. Summary • Title: Lab Manager • Department: Operations • Reports to: Franchise Owner • Location: Retail lab testing store • Employment Type: Full-time, on-site • Mission: Deliver safe, accurate, and timely testing services while driving team performance and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities • Team Leadership & Scheduling • Hire, train, coach, and schedule Medical Assistants/Phlebotomists and support staff. • Maintain a positive, respectful workplace and uphold ALTN brand standards. • Operational Excellence • Oversee daily store operations, including opening/closing, specimen workflow, and sanitation. • Ensure consistent compliance with SOPs for specimen collection, packaging, and shipping to reference laboratories. • Clinical & Technical Oversight • Ensure correct performance of point-of-care tests, phlebotomy, buccal swabs, and other collections. • Verify testing documentation, chain-of-custody, and result reporting processes are accurate and timely. • Customer Experience • Champion a 15-minute average visit target and fast results turnaround by optimizing processes and staffing. • Support discreet, professional service across clinical, DNA, and toxicology testing needs. • Quality, Safety, and Compliance • Maintain store cleanliness and biosafety standards; supervise equipment calibration and supply integrity. • Ensure adherence to accreditation/certification requirements through our vetted lab partners. • Inventory Management • Manage inventory levels for collection kits, PPE, shipping materials, and POC testing supplies. • Business Growth & Relationships • Collaborate with the Franchise Owner on promotions and local outreach. • Support business clients (physicians, employers, schools, legal partners) with reliable testing solutions and clear communication. Qualifications • Education/Certifications • Phlebotomy certification or Medical Assistant credentials required. • Associate’s in a healthcare or life science field preferred, but not required. • Experience • 2–4+ years in clinical operations, laboratory, or healthcare retail setting. • 3+ years experience in phlebotomy required. • 1–3+ years supervisory or team lead experience. • Skills • Proficiency with specimen collection workflows, chain-of-custody, and POC testing. • Strong people leadership, scheduling, and training capabilities. • Operational acumen: inventory control, sanitation standards, and store procedures. • Tech savvy with documentation systems (e.g., QuickBooks entry and test technology systems). • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving. Performance Indicators • Turnaround time and accuracy of test results. • Customer satisfaction and repeat business rates. • Compliance audit outcomes (documentation, chain-of-custody, sanitation). • Labor efficiency and schedule adherence. • Inventory availability and waste reduction. • Revenue growth contributions and local client retention. Physical Requirements • Ability to stand for extended periods; lift/move supplies up to ~25 lbs. • Safely perform phlebotomy and other specimen collections with appropriate PPE. • Comfort with frequent sanitization and biosafety procedures. Work Environment • Fast-paced retail lab testing store with diverse consumer and business clients. • Collaboration with accredited and/or certified laboratory partners; strong emphasis on safety and confidentiality Pay: $47,174.30 - $56,812.06 per year Work Location: In person
