Lead prototyping, manufacturing development, and production readiness for new aerospace hardware, collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing engineering documentation.
5+ years in aerospace or defense manufacturing engineering with hands-on hardware building and testing experience, and ability to work independently.
Ready to transform modern aviation and help build the next generation of aerospace hardware from the ground up? We’ve partnered with a fast-growing aerospace organisation that is rethinking how aircraft components are designed, built, and brought to market. Supported by strong fiscal backing and a clear long-term strategy, they are developing advanced hardware for today’s aircraft while setting the foundation for future aviation. Their approach combines deep technical capability, a solid product roadmap, and the momentum needed for lasting success. This is your opportunity to join as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Launch. You will take innovative designs from concept to physical reality, owning prototyping, first-build execution, and manufacturing development. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, shape production processes, and directly influence how new aerospace hardware is delivered at scale. This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of hands-on engineering, high-velocity development, and practical manufacturing excellence. Why You Should Join • Join a recently stealth-exited aerospace venture with meaningful industry expertise and strong fiscal backing. • Build manufacturing processes, design standards, and engineering workflows for a company preparing to scale. • Work hands-on with new hardware across multiple engineering domains, including structural, thermal, mechanical, and materials. • Take genuine ownership of prototypes, tooling, documentation, and the path to production. • Contribute to a mission that aims to bring innovation back to an industry that has not meaningfully reinvented itself in decades. What You Will Do • Take ownership of prototyping and first builds, turning new aerospace hardware designs into working components while applying first-principles thinking. • Lead the full manufacturing and build process for new products, ensuring designs are manufacturable, production-ready, and aligned with performance and integration requirements. • Work closely with design and test engineering teams, supporting test tooling development, refining requirements, and feeding back DFM insights to improve reliability, cost, and simplicity. • Manage engineering documentation including drawing revisions, BOM structures, and part configurations in line with aerospace and internal standards. • Act as the subject matter expert for assigned processes and helping identify new product opportunities. What You Bring • 5+ years in a fast-paced space/defence environment. • Hands-on engineering experience with a practical approach to building, testing, and diagnosing hardware. • Independent problem solver who thrives when given autonomy. Excited to join? Apply now or reach out directly at djewell@akkar.com. We are moving quickly. This position requires compliance with ITAR regulations. Applicants must meet U.S. person criteria. Even if you do not meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. Your background driving innovation in the aviation/defence industry could be valuable elsewhere.
