Abbott advances innovative technologies across healthcare — including pain management, neuromodulation, catheter-based and surgical treatment solutions — with a mission to improve quality of life for patients worldwide. ## Key Responsibilities - Participate in a 6- to 8-month, full-time Co-op assignment working on engineering projects that directly align to Abbott’s mission and product development activities. - Work on projects in engineering focus areas such as Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. - Support other business areas as needed (for example Regulatory Affairs, Biology, Life Sciences) and perform meaningful, learning-focused work. - Complete assigned tasks with strong analytical and problem-solving approaches, and communicate results effectively. - Learn quickly and work independently with minimal direct supervision while collaborating with site teams across Abbott locations. ## Required Qualifications - Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate engineering program and enrolled during the school year of the assignment and the semester following the assignment. - Minimum GPA of 3.0 or greater. - Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills. - Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal direct supervision. - Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the Co-op session. - Must be able to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or at any point in the future. ## Preferred Qualifications (if any) - Rising juniors or graduate students preferred. - Majors and backgrounds in Systems Engineering, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, Biology or Life Sciences are beneficial. ## Compensation & Benefits - Base pay range disclosed: $16.45 – $32.85 per hour (may vary by location). - Co-op offers learning experiences and meaningful work that challenge and reward, with projects aligned to Abbott’s mission. ## Additional Information - Typical Co-op assignment length: 6 to 8 months. - Work shift: Standard; Travel: approximately 5% of the time. - Medical surveillance: Not applicable. - Significant work activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day). - Co-ops are placed at multiple Abbott business locations across the United States (examples include Columbus, OH and Pleasanton, CA).
